Malta Travel
Travel in and around Malta is getting easier as time goes on. Since joining the EU there have been quite a few airlines opting for new routes to malta, with some of them being the low cost airlines as well, which is good news for us that want to visit more frequently.
Once on the Island there is no shortage of means by which to get around. There is an excellent bus service, which has it’s main terminal in Valetta.
The busses from there can take you to almost every point around the Island, and if it doesn’t go straight there, you can more times than not get a connecting bus from a drop off point.
One tip I will give you though is, if you are going to take a trip to the north or the south of the Island along the country roads, see if you can get a seat near the middle of the bus.
I sat near the back a couple of times and when the bus hits a few of those old country bumps, yo have a tendancy to leave your seat, and come down with a little bump.
There are lots of Taxis available on the Island which are reasonable in price, although you might be well advised to agree a price before your journey, especially if you are going to use them after midnight when most of the busses have stopped running.
Cars can be easily hired although there are hire firms available on the Island, you have the best selection of hire companies at the airport. Just as a quick reminder, if you are going to hire a car, a full international driving license is required.
