There are 3 large islands of Malta which are situated in the central Mediterranean sea all of which are inhabited, with Malta being the most popular, and its 2 sister islands Gozo and Comino both have their own unique charm.
Malta is popular for its spectacular beaches, safe bathing bays, and the blue grotto, plus lots of other outdoor activities for you to enjoy. Why not visit the archaeological sites that are believed to be older than the great pyramids of Egypt!
There’s almost 7,000 years of history steeped on the island of Malta, which are still very evident in many places for example in the temples, cities and cathedrals, not forgetting the variety of treasures to be seen in the museums.
The old capital of Mdina which is a medieval town stands on one of the highest hills on the island, With stunning gardens dating back to the 1600s, once part of the grounds of palaces and palatial homes enjoyed by the then rulers and gives spectacular views of the Grand Harbour.
Valletta which is the capitol city of Malta is a world heritage site and many of its palaces have been turned into museums, housing archaeological and prehistoric collections dating back to 5200 BC, things such as temple carvings, human and animal figurines to name but a few all this and more can be seen in the National museum.
The National Museum of Fine Arts is another great place to visit with its fine collection of Impressive silverware.
Why not Explore the Grandmaster’s Palace Armoury Museum, which has full suits of armour, guns, and cannons from the 15th century.
There are many cultural events happening on the island all year round for instance parades which take you back in time through multi vision shows, jazz and opera festivals, and much more, whatever your taste Malta has something for you.
You will find many of the hotels have spas, water sports, and for the more adventurous rock climbing and hiking.
Much of the local cuisine offers the traditional rabbit stew and plenty of local fresh fish dishes, multicultural dishes, and lets not forget to sample the many fine wines to be savoured.
